Christian Dating Guidelines Are a Good Thing To Follow

I think you can all agree with me when I say that dating is fun! It is true, going out on dates whether it is one on one or group dates gives us a sense of peace and enjoyment, especially when you are with a person that you fully enjoy being with and with someone you feel might actually be the one. Many people have also tried Christian online dating and have found it exhilarating, fresh and new in many ways.

God has created us in His own image, so we do have the strong feeling of desire and longing for someone. We long to be in a fruitful relationship and would want to be cherished and loved. Of course not all dating relationships end in marriage, and we need to consider the fact that perhaps you may even be in high school right now and would like to spread your wings and test the dating world.

If this is so, then I hope that I would be able to help you with simple Christian dating guidelines so that you can honor God, your dating partner, and of course yourself. So let me first ask you a question. What is your motive for dating this time of your life? Do you just want to grow as individual? Or are you really attracted to the person in a strong way? Are you already considering marriage as an option?

Whatever your reason or motive may be, it is always good to have that set and know for sure what your purpose is in all of these aspects. These Christian dating guidelines will really help you out once you are sure about your purpose in dating.

Now, I am not saying that these Christian dating guidelines are the absolute rules in dating. I believe that every person is created unique and it is important that you also pray and ask God to show you the right path through His Word, because that is the ultimate place where you can look to for life. However, I feel that what I am going to share here will help give you Godly guidance.

So first of all, keep your devotional time with God as a priority in everything you do. Even if it is just for 5 minutes a day or more, take time to read his word and be in prayer so that he will lead you in all things.

Second, choose to date other fellow Christians. Now I know that this may not always be the case and perhaps you will try to date a non-Christian; however, it would be so much easier for you and your partner if you are already both in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Third, set up boundaries, not just as individuals but also in your dating relationship so that you are both aware as to what to expect from one another and are ready to protect each other.

Finally, enjoy each other’s company and don’t be afraid to be yourself!
